Bajabulise Thela Crowned Miss Universe South Africa 2026

 Bajabulise Thela, was crowned Miss Universe South Africa 2026 on July 18, 2026. The 22-year-old from Kanyamazane, Lekazi, is a marketing graduate, qualified flight attendant, and founder of the Mambane Foundation. She is set to represent South Africa at the 75th Miss Universe pageant later this year.

Bajabulise’s triumph is a moment of immense pride, not only for her hometown and the province of Mpumalanga, but for the entire nation. Her journey from holding the title of Miss Mpumalanga 2024 to winning the national crown is a testament to her resilience, discipline and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in society.

Her connection to MER holds particular significance. After being crowned Miss Mpumalanga, Bajabulise partnered with MER as an Ambassador for its Responsible Gambling, Responsible Liquor Trade and Responsible Alcohol Consumption campaigns. In this capacity, she worked diligently to promote responsible choices, community well-being, and youth empowerment through public education and engagement initiatives across Mpumalanga.
