A bright and sunny Saturday, 12 September 2026, morning provided the perfect backdrop for the 266th edition of the Jock Trail parkrun, where 30 enthusiastic participants took to the scenic course. The event saw an impressive influx of new faces, with 14 first-time visitors joining the local parkrun community.
Among the visiting parkrunners were the Greef family from Alberts Farm parkrun in Johannesburg, along with Charl and Lee-Ann Naude from Ebotse parkrun, also in Johannesburg. The event also welcomed the Jonkers and Thompsons, hailing from the Western Cape and received a special international boost with Anne Bennett and Catherine Sowerby traveling all the way from London, UK.
The morning’s run was marked by outstanding performances. Senzo Fakude set a new personal best, finishing as the first male in a time of 24:10. Catherine Sowerby, visiting from London, was the first female finisher, crossing the line in 31:40.
Event organisers extended heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated team of volunteers who made the event possible: Charl Naude, Grant Bosman, Belinda Bosman, Patsy van der Merwe, Nick van der Merwe, Lee-Ann Naude, Spokie van der Merwe, Selma Buytendag, Rijnardt Nieuwenhuys, Ingrid van der Walt, Allan Walker, Sipho Mthethwa and Priscilla Mthethwa.
With picture-perfect weather and vibrant company, the Jock Trail parkrun once again proved to be a welcoming hub for both newcomers and regulars alike. The organisers look forward to seeing even more parkrunners local and international join the fun in the coming weeks. From the first week of October the time will change from 08:00 to 07:00.
